Kathleen Ann Feicht, April 10, 1945 – January 27, 2026, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie Feicht. Kathleen is survived by sisters Mary Margaret “Peggy” Feicht and Pamela (Ira) Scheer, nieces Laura (Jon) Dimitrijevic and Jessica Scheer (Jason Beauregard), and great nephews, Oliver and Everett Dimitrijevic. As a keeper of our family history, Kathleen always appreciated finding an obituary that gave the reader some details of a person’s life so we shall attempt to honor that here.
Born in DuBois, PA to Frank and Marie Feicht, Kathleen spent her first twelve years in nearby Reynoldsville, PA. The opportunity for a better life beckoned her parents and they moved the family to Ottawa, OH, so that they could provide their children with a college education.
An excellent student, Kathleen graduated from Ottawa High School then received a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University. Working in the laboratory at St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima, OH, she developed an interest in blood banking, so she pursued an advanced certification, becoming a Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB).
Her career took her to Toledo to work at Flower Hospital but after a year she moved to the Toledo Red Cross. After working in the lab there, she became interested in immunohematology and traveled around the country with coolers filled with bone marrow to deliver lifesaving treatments to critically ill patients. Her next move was to Quality Assurance for the National Red Cross, supervising the safety of the blood products created in Toledo. When she retired from full-time work, she continued to consult for the Red Cross, visiting various branches to establish systems to ensure the safest possible blood supply to patients in need.
There will be a gathering in Kathleen’s memory on Sunday, February 22 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at Westerwood, 5800 Forest Hills Blvd, Columbus, OH. Internment is planned for Memorial Day Weekend at Harman Cemetery in Northwest Ohio.
To honor Kathleen’s love of cats, in lieu of flowers, friends are welcome to contribute to their local Humane Society.
