Kathleen A. Summerfield

Kathleen A. Summerfield, age 73, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025. A lifelong resident of the Central Ohio area, Kathleen was born on October 10, 1951, to the late Jack and Anna Mae Thomas.

Kathleen dedicated 39 years of her life to Ohio State University, where she was a respected and valued member of the staff. Her work ethic, warmth, and kindness touched the lives of many colleagues over the years.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Lee Summerfield; her parents, Jack and Anna Mae Thomas; and her brothers, Pat Thomas and Mike (Tricia) Thomas.

Kathleen is survived by her children, Nicole (Trent) Parker, Jamie Humphrey, and Mackenzie Summerfield; her grandchildren, Presley and Dilynn Parker; her brother, Mark (Anna) Thomas; and several nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her strength, generous spirit, and unwavering love for her family.

A burial service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E. Broad St, Columbus, Ohio 43213 on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 2:30 PM followed by a celebration of life at Wagnalls Memorial Library’s Social Hall from 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM at 150 E. Columbus St., Lithopolis, OH 43136. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association of Central Ohio at https://www.alz.org/centralohio.

Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
