Kathy Kollat Lanz, age 67, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on September 24th, 2020. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on April 11, 1953, where she was raised by her parents Tabor and Mary. A registered nurse, she worked passionately with premature infants for more than three decades at St. Elizabeth's in Youngstown, Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s in Columbus, and other hospitals.
Kathy is survived by her two beloved children, Jeffrey and Danielle, her brothers Jim and Nick, and her sister Dana.
Kathy had a special sense of awe about life and the world around her. An adoptive pet parent, Kathy treasured her relationship with her cats Sylvester and Sammy. She possessed a unique talent for artistic gardening, giving life to magical worlds in the flower and tree gardens around her apartment. She also had a deep reverence for science, astronomy, and the possibility of alien life, sharing her love of science fiction and her wonder at the cosmos with everyone who knew her. Her compassion toward people and curiosity about the unknown have touched and inspired the people around her, most of all her children. She will be deeply missed."
