Keith Langston Hill, age 72, was born on September 11, 1954, in Columbus, Ohio, to Mattie P. Hill and Charles G. Hill. He unexpectedly departed this life on Friday, October 2, 2026, at his residence. Keith attended Columbus City Public Schools and Fort Hayes Night School. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Geoffrey Marsh and Kevin Hill and sisters, Kathy Hill and Penni Hill. Keith is survived by daughter, Kimberly B. (Oronde) Denby; son, Keith Hill Jr.; siblings Grace Scales, Kent (Belinda) Hill, and Kathleen Hill of Cleveland, Ohio; and Kassaundra (Billy) Anderson of Dayton, Ohio. He is also survived by grandchildren, family members and a host of close friends. Among those who held a special place in his life were Ms. Betty Abbott, Torrance Nicholson Sr, Carl Washington, Zachary Hurst, and others too numerous to mention. He also leaves his loving Pastor, Dr. Jonathan E. Morehead, and his cherished Hosack Baptist Church family.
Keith was a very private person and a man of few words, but his passion for his work spoke volumes. He was a true “Master Mechanic” and “Jack of All Trades,” possessing the kind of old-school skills that are becoming increasingly rare. Nearly every family member and friend had a story to tell about Keith working on their vehicle—or the vehicle of someone they knew. He was the person who could fix, build, repair, or restore just about anything. If you could reach him, chances were he could get the job done!
In his younger years, Keith worked at O’Cain’s Supermarket where he earned a position of significant responsibility. He also worked at a Cleaners on the Hilltop and several years for Mooney and Mosley Insulation Company. From his work and his remarkable mechanical abilities, Keith demonstrated the value of dedication, skill, and hard work.
Beneath his quiet demeanor he was a loving, caring, gentle soul and loyal friend to many. Keith also had a unique sense of humor that brought laughter to those around him. His Hosack Baptist Church family knew some of his favorite treats were Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies, and they would often leave them for him when they knew he would be at the church—a small but meaningful gesture that reflected the love and care they shared.
Keith and family grew up on the East Side of Columbus. Keith, Kevin, and Kent were famously known as “The Hill Boys.” Their bond was so strong that the saying went, “If you picked a fight with one, you had to fight all three!” He enjoyed many things in life: fishing, sports, track meets, and horse racing. He was an avid Ohio State University (OSU) fan and proudly supported the Buckeyes.
Keith’s quiet strength, generous spirit, mechanical talents, and unforgettable sense of humor will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He had his own special way of showing love to his family and friends, leaving behind countless memories and stories that will continue to be shared for generations to come. Though his presence will be deeply missed, the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the laughter he shared will never be forgotten.
Rest peacefully, Keith. Your memory will live on forever.
