Kurt William Wiewall

Oct 11, 1970 — Sep 24, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kurt William Wiewall on September 24, 2026, at the age of 55.

Kurt was one of a kind. Born on October 11, 1970, he had an inquisitive, mischievous, and humorous spirit from the very beginning. His quick wit, generous heart, and wonderful sense of humor brought laughter to everyone around him. He could find humor in almost any situation, and his stories and unmistakable personality made every family gathering more memorable. Those stories—and the laughter that came with them—will be deeply missed.

He had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fly fishing. He enjoyed the peacefulness of being on the water, the challenge of making the perfect cast, and simply being outdoors. Fly fishing gave him a chance to enjoy some of the things he loved most—nature, quiet moments, and good company.

He was a passionate soccer player and was thrilled that during his lifetime soccer became so popular nationwide. He was also a devoted football fan whose heart belonged to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He could always be counted on to have an opinion, a prediction, and probably a few colorful comments to share, making every game an occasion for conversation and laughter with family and friends.

Above all, Kurt was a cherished son, brother, and family member. His fishing tales, football games, and laughter made ordinary moments special. Fifty-five years was far too short. His family is grateful for the love and joy he brought to their lives, leaving us with a lifetime of beautiful memories and tales of the ones that didn't get away.

Kurt will be remembered whenever a fly is cast onto quiet water, whenever the Steelers or Buckeyes take the field, and whenever a good story brings laughter to a room.

Rest peacefully, Kurt. You were loved, you will be deeply missed, and you will never be forgotten. He is survived by his mother, Judith Wiewall; his sister, Darcy Wiewall; his brother-in-law, Alvaro Fragoso; and his nephew, Gael Fragoso Wiewall, and many other family members and friends who will carry his memory with them always.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 4-5pm at Shaw-Davis 4341 N. High St., Columbus 43214, with a service from 5-6pm. A celebration of life will be held following the service at the Clintonville Rusty Bucket from 6-9pm at 4109 N. High St. Columbus, 43214.
