LaDonna Maxine Merritt

LaDonna Maxine Merritt, 85, went to be with her Lord on January 22, 2023.

LaDonna was born on June 6, 1937 to Lloyd and Juanita McCormick, in Lima, Ohio.

She graduated from Lima South High School and attended Circleville Bible College where she

met and married the love of her life, Russell Merritt Sr. on August 5, 1956. They were married

for 62 years.

LaDonna became an LPN and began her nursing career in 1970 at Bethesda (Genesis) hospital

in Zanesville, Ohio. She also served as a home health nurse and an EMT volunteer in Philo,

Ohio.

LaDonna gave her life to Christ as a teen and lived every day for him. Her sincere desire was

for all her family to accept Jesus as savior.

LaDonna was an avid quilter, putting together dozens of beautiful treasures for her family and

friends. In addition to quilting, she loved many crafts, camping, fishing and swimming. Her

greatest joys were her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Merritt Sr. her parents, Lloyd and

Juanita McCormick; Sisters, Mary McCormick, Dorothy Dixon and Rose Ann Steed; great

grandchildren Charley Rollins, Sunny Otero and Brody Hanson; and most recently, her son,

Russell Merritt Jr. LaDonna is Survived by her children; Deborah Merritt, Raquel (Mark)

Otero, Susan (Chris) Brown, Paul (Jamie) Merritt and Jonathan (Gloria) Merritt, sisters

Martha (Doug) Kizer and Janet (Paul) Childs; 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and

one great, great grandchild.

Services will be held on Sunday, January 29, at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home in Columbus, Ohio

from 11:30 am -12:30 pm; followed by committal at Highlawn Cemetery, 3260 Rt. 22,

Washington Court House, Ohio at 2:00pm. After the committal, a Celebration of Life Service will

be held at Heritage Memorial Church, 1867 Old US 35 NW Washington Court House. The
