Lawrence Russell Rittgers

Lawrence Russell “Russ” Rittgers, born on July 17, 1948, in Bremerton, Washington, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. He was 77 years old.

Russ attended the Ohio State University and received his MBA in Finance, which led to him becoming a CPA. Russ was a proud Navy Veteran and retired as a Chief. In his spare time Russ was a voracious reader of westerns, fantasy, Sci-Fi, and history, especially the Civil War.

Russ is survived by his beloved wife, Rita Gene Rittgers and he was the proud father of James Russell Rittgers and Amanda Elizabeth Rittgers. His family circle also includes his caring sister, Diana Wall, and his nephew, Steven Joseph Rhomomus. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Harley M Rittgers, his mother, Mary Lee Rittgers, and his sister Marjorie Rhomomus.

A memorial service honoring Russ’s memory will be held on August 13, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church, located at 4343 Dublin Rd, Hilliard, OH 43026. A lunch will be provided following the service. All who knew Russ are welcome to gather, reflect, and pay tribute to a life well-lived.
