Margaret Mary Sauer

Oct 14, 1930 — Jun 21, 2026

Margaret (Peg) Mary Martha Myers Sauer peacefully left this earth on June 21, 2026, and sped off to Heaven at age 95, 8 months. She was visited and surrounded by her loving family and friends for the past month, ensuring we were all going to be okay.

Peg grew up in Akron Ohio along with siblings Barb, Sue, Cathy and John. She graduated from St. Vincent High school and not long after she met and married her lifelong love, Richard (Dick or Wolfgang) Sauer and started their family. They moved to Columbus in “62”, filled up most grades at Immaculate Conception school and had a ball raising 7 perfect children. (She kept a broken string Ric-Rac paddle around, just in case). Peg was a neighborhood mom, knew every kid and family around and was always willing to lend an ear and share a smile. She was very active serving others with the Elizabethan Guild and served on the board at St. Stephen’s Community House. Peg and Dick eventually migrated to St. Thomas More Newman Center where they were active in Pre Cana, collection counters and Eucharistic ministers. After retiring they spent winters in Bradenton, Florida and quickly made new friends at West Winds Village. They loved playing golf, bowling, bridge, swimming and volunteering together. Peg spent her last four years at Wesley Glen Retirement Community where she continued to volunteer, swim and take walks in the ravine. Peg never met a stranger, the wonderful staff at Wesley Glen thoroughly enjoyed her and they were excellent caregivers.

Peg is survived by her children Ann, Mark, Steve (Pat), Ray (Rita), Paul (Laura), Carol (Bryan); 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard (Wolfgang) Sauer, parents Ray (Pappy) Myers, Madeline (Mimi) Myers, son Tom (Anne).
