Margery Ann Jones

Margery Ann Bland Southall Jones, 87, passed away on June 25th, 2026 at St. Ann’s in Columbus, Ohio.

Born April 15th, 1939 in Columbus to parents Hazel C. King Bland and Ernest Bland, grandparents Amelia Swope Bland and Wellington Bland.

Margery was the youngest of 7 children, and the only girl. Raymond (Ernestine) Bland, Robert (Retha) Bland, Ronald (Joann) Bland, Richard (Verda) Bland, Randall Bland and surviving brother Royce (Wanita) Bland of Michigan.

Margery is predeceased by her husband, Delbert ‘Dale’ Jones. She is survived by her children Kelly Southall Nichol, Marsha (Dan) Southall Hritz, Jerry (Rachel) Southall, and Dennis (DeAnn) Southall, as well as her 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She also had numerous nieces and nephews, generations of great nieces and nephews, and found-family who she loved spending time with.

Margery attended Linden McKinley High School with her most enduring friend, and former sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lappert Clark Southall.

She enjoyed telling stories of her hardworking parents and her family’s life during the Great Depression. Margery dearly loved and missed her brothers.

Margery worked many jobs over the years to support her children as a single mother- places like the India Oak Bar and Grill, The Wine Cellar, Western Insurance, Festivio Joes, and BankOne. While she was working at Costco, Margery met one of her best friends Sandy, who continued to visit and take her out to lunch whenever they could find time.

Margery was an animal lover, and is also survived by her two beloved dogs, Pete and Layla.

Margery’s cremation will be performed by Shaw-Davis Funeral Homes and there is to be no traditional service. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Stroke Association and/or the ALS Association
