Marie was born in Lorain, OH and grew up in Shaker Heights, OH. She was a devout Catholic and entered the convent at the age of 13. When she left the convent, her family moved to Sandusky. She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1954 where she was a member of the French club, Latin club, and the Chemistry club. Born into a musical family, her father was a music teacher in the Catholic Diocese and Marie enjoyed singing in the church choir. She carried her love of music with her even up until the late stages of her life when she still sang the words to her favorite songs. She married Carl LaMarca in the late 1950’s and had 4 children. Upon retiring, she moved to Delray Beach, Florida and lived with her partner of 20 years Henry “Pete” Maki.
