Marilyn Zoe Armstrong (82), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Sunday May 3, 2026 with her children by her side. She leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, and a life fully lived.
Family remained an important part of Marilyn’s story. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Kerrie Ritchey (Doug) and Eric Vaughan (Erin), who carry forward their mother’s resilient spirit and compassionate heart. Her grandchildren—Maria Lees (Joshua), Jacob Ritchey (Abby), Elena Harman (Christopher), Liam Vaughan, Grayson Vaughan, Skye Vaughan, and Beckham Vaughan—were a constant source of pride and joy in her life. Marilyn was also blessed to have eight great-grandchildren, each a continuation of her enduring legacy.
Marilyn is survived by her siblings, Susan McCabe (Frank Keneavy), Joan Dixon (Jim), Greg Armstrong (Martha), Peggy Yates (Michael), Joe Armstrong (Nancy), and Connie Armstrong (sister-in-law), with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and family bonds. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Armstrong and Colette Sapp Armstrong, and her brother, Michael Armstrong.
Marilyn was a nurse for many years, finding passion and purpose in helping her patients. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, and horseback riding. She had a special love for animals, finding comfort and companionship in their presence. Marilyn truly was a lover of life, always ready to add a little “special” into everyday moments.
She will be remembered in the ways that matter most—through shared memories, lessons learned, and the family she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Marilyn’s name to The Shane Center, a therapeutic equestrian center for those with disabilities. Contributions can be made at shanecenter.org.
