Marjorie Jean (Denny) Harrold

August 21, 1943 — November 27, 2023

Marjorie Harrold passed away with her children by her side on November 27, 2023, at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio, after a brief illness.  Marge was born in Salem, Ohio on August 21, 1943, to Raymond and Bertha (Drotleff) Denny.  She was raised on a dairy farm and was a 1961 graduate of West Branch High School, where she was actively involved in music, theater, and as the school newspaper editor.  Marge earned a degree in Education from Mount Union College in 1965.  While at Mount Union, she was chosen May Queen and met her husband, Richard.  They were married on August 28, 1965.

Marge taught at Alliance City Schools after graduation.  She then moved to Germany to join Rich who was serving in the U.S. Army and stationed in Wildflecken, Germany.  After returning to the United States, they became longtime residents of Sandusky.  Marge began teaching elementary grades at Sandusky City Schools in 1968, where she remained until she retired due to health issues.

Marge loved to travel, play bridge and euchre in card clubs, spend time with her friends, and attend her children's and grandchildren’s events.

Marge inspired her family by her toughness dealing with crippling rheumatoid arthritis for 48 years, additional autoimmune diseases, and a related lymphoma.  She could still be seen down on the ground playing with her grandchildren when they were young.

Marge was a lifelong Lutheran and active member of Zion Lutheran Church of Huron.

Marge and Rich were married for 57 years before his death in 2022.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Janet Kekel.

She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Lenyo and husband David of Huron; her son, Bradley Harrold and wife Melissa of Powell; grandchildren Alexandria Lenyo, Nicholas Lenyo, Ella Harrold, and Ian Harrold; brother Robert Denny and wife Pamela; and brother-in-law Robert Kekel.

A small family service will be held to celebrate Marge’s life. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to OhioHealth Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43214 or Zion Lutheran Church, 930 Main Street, Huron, Ohio 44839.
