Mark Wheeler passed away peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by loved ones, on July 29, 2026. Mark always enjoyed life, loved watching football, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals, and loved watching NASCAR on Sundays during the offseason. He was also an avid fisherman and loved to fish anytime he could whether he was jigging for panfish off the Galena boardwalk or chasing gamefish off the coast of Panama City. He spent his whole life working as a truck driver and was a friend to anyone he met. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family. Whether he was driving across the state to cheer on Big Walnut or Ohio Northern football games, hanging out at county fairs all day to watch livestock shows, or just relaxing in his recliner at home, Mark was a constant source of laughter, entertainment, and support for those around him.
He is preceded in death by his mother Jean Mathews, his father and stepmother Jack and Dorothy Wheeler and his brother James Wheeler.
He is survived by the love of his life Mary Hale and her children Austin (Madison) Hale; their children Samuel Hale, Jackson Hale and Ethan (Makala) Hale. He is also survived by his sister Vivian (Terry) Owens, brother Ronald Peters (Tammi).
A celebration of life will be at a later date, so in lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity, especially since Mark loved people, children and animals.
