Michael Ali Arman

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Ali Arman, who peacefully went home to the Lord on August 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with glioblastoma at the age of 59.

Ali was born on May 17, 1967, in Mashhad, Iran, and immigrated with his family to the United States in 1984. They settled in Columbus, Ohio, where they were reunited with his older siblings who were attending The Ohio State University. He graduated from Whetstone High School in 1987 and later earned his Bachelor’s degree from DeVry University.

Ali had a competitive spirit from an early age. He dedicated himself to Jeet Kune Do martial arts, earning his brown belt, and developed a lifelong passion for Ohio State football that only grew stronger over the years. He was active in the Persian community, where he met the love of his life, Sayeh Shirvani, on the dance floor at a Persian New Year party. They were married in July 1989 and built a beautiful life together. Although he made his home in Columbus, Iran always remained close to his heart. He faithfully followed the news from his homeland, celebrated its rich culture and traditions, and never lost his love for the country where his story began.

Above all, Ali was a devoted father whose greatest joy was his children, Andre and Audrey. He was known for his kind heart, quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family. He brought life and laughter to every gathering with his boisterous Buckeye cheering and his signature shoulder-shake dance. If you sat near him during an Ohio State game, you quickly learned to watch out for his flying elbows and enthusiastic high-fives. His joy was contagious, and his presence made every celebration more memorable.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sayeh Shirvani; his children, Andre and Audrey Arman; his siblings, Sam Arman (Parizad), Alan Arman (Mila), Nasser Arman (Sahar), and Fara Gyurcsik (Chris); along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Mohammad Vali Abdollahi and Iran Takhti.

While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Ali has been welcomed home by the Lord and reunited with his mom and dad. Throughout his life, he faced every challenge with courage, resilience, and faith, inspiring everyone who knew him. We take peace in knowing he is now free from pain and at rest.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 4, 2026, from 12:00–3:00 p.m. at Amelita Mirolo Barn, 4395 Carriage Hill Lane, Upper Arlington, Ohio.

A private family graveside ceremony will be held at Union Cemetery followed by a family gathering from 10am through 4pm on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
