Michael Downs

On Wednesday, March 16, 2022, Michael E Downs, fiancée to Jeanne Dewitt-Karbowski and father to Darian and Katie-Marie, passed away at the age of 59. Forever in our hearts, and now in the hands of the Lord.

Michael was born on May 25, 1962 in Cleveland to Katey and George Downs. Michael graduated from Centennial High School in 1980. He worked as a wheelchair technician and salesman for the majority of his career, and always showed his clients kindness and advocacy. Michael loved his job and loved his family, especially his two daughters. He was a gentle man with a big heart, he was someone to lean on in times of trouble and always presented himself at a time of need. He loved animals, his cat, Icky and his dog, Pete will welcome him upon his arrival to heaven. He will be missed by his dog Aila who is now in the care of his daughter, Katie-Marie.

Michael is preceded in death by his sister, Diane, his nephew, Ross, and his grandparents and great-grandparents.

He is survived by his father, George, and his mother, Katey, his fiancée, Jeanne, his daughters, Darian and Katie-Marie, his brother, Tim, sister-in-law, Kim, nephews, Luke, Jake, Derek, and Alek, his brother-in-law, Dave, his niece Shella, her husband Chris, and their daughter, Lucy, his niece, Molly, her husband, Mike, their daughters, Diana-Bella, Sasha, Olive, Evie, Calla, and several cousins.

Mike was a light upon our lives, and we wish to celebrate his life on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Shaw-Davis Chapel in Clintonville, at 4341 North High St, Columbus, OH 43214. Calling hours will be from 6pm-7:15pm, and his memorial will be from 7:15-8pm. Please join us to remember Michael’s life.
