Michael Wayne Greenwald

Michael (Mike) Wayne Greenwald, born in 1952 (age 73) died on October 19, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and half-brothers and 2 nephews.

He is survived by his sister and 1 of her sons, and numerous other nieces and nephews. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren from his marriages survive him as do their mothers.

As he grew in his faith and became a new man, he grieved about hurting those in his past. He hopes that all will forgive him and come to know and love the Lord and/or grow closer in their walk with the Lord.

Michael was a man of many talents.

After graduating from Newark High School, he worked as a fast food shift manager, a corner store manager, a furniture maker, a wielder, an employee of Westinghouse, a school district evening custodian, and at the air base.

He was self-employed for a while as a housepainter and odd jobs man.

Musically, he blessed others with his omnichord (electronic autoharp). Even though he could not read music, the anointing on his playing was said to sooth the soul and quiet the spirit of even some dementia patients. He also played both guitar and keyboard.

He enjoyed writing short, happy stories with a moral and illustrated some of them. He made and gave away both paintings and music boxes. He loved both people and the Lord as shown by his servant’s heart. His religious background was varied and at each church he learned to experience a different side of His Savior.

These are the congregations that the obit writer knows about:

St. Paul’s Lutheran, Christian Fellowship, Baptist Temple in Heath, Christian Endeavor United Methodist, Williams Street Nazarene and the one in Utica

He will be sadly missed by the residents of the Bill E. Mitchell Senior Facility – especially those in his Bible Study Group. and his current church home.
