Nancy Lou (Gilmore) Bobb, age 95, of Columbus, Ohio, peacefully passed away on May 21, 2024, at the Kobacker House Hospice Care Facility after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on December 13, 1928, in Gallipolis, Ohio to Ralph C. and Fern W. Gilmore, she lived her early years in Pomeroy, Ohio where her father was a well-known businessman who owned the largest harness and tack store between Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. After graduating from Pomeroy High School in 1946, she moved to Columbus, Ohio to attend office training school and lived at the YWCA where she made several life-long friends. Her first job after secretarial school was with the Jaeger Machine Company, and then the F J Heer Printing Company. It was at the Heer Printing Company that she met Vernon O. Bobb whom she wed on May 12, 1950. They had two sons, Gregory G. and David W. Bobb, and she had a stepson, Daniel R. Bobb.
She was a long-time member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church where she served on several committees and with various groups over the years, and later attended Peachblow United Methodist Church. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and also belonged to TWIG 36 for many years supporting Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Additionally, she was a member of the Clintonville Women’s Club for over 50 years and formerly served on the Board of Directors.
During the course of her life, Nancy enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, and belonged to several bridge clubs, and, as she would say, was always good and ready for a party. She was fond of traveling and experiencing new places and new sights. Later in life she learned Mah-Jongg and cherished being part of her Mah-Jongg group. She also absolutely loved the Christmas Season and never lost her child-like wonder for Christmas Day.
She is survived by her sons, Gregory G. Bobb (Laurel) of Stow, Ohio and David W. Bobb (Pamela) of Crossville, Tennessee; a step-son, Daniel R. Bobb (Rebecca) of Delaware, Ohio; grandchildren Benjamin C. Bobb of Akron, Ohio, Alexander D. Bobb (Michelle) of Mesa, Arizona, and Alyssa B. Harris (Nathaniel) of Galena, Ohio; sister Jo Ann A. Parsons of Granville, Ohio; niece Julia A. Dixon of Granville, Ohio, nephew Jeffrey M. Parsons (Melinda) of Indianapolis, Indiana; several great-grandchildren, and other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon O. Bobb.
