Nancy Sue Engleman

April 26, 1943 — July 29, 2025

Columbus, Ohio

Nancy Sue (Orwig) Engleman, 82, passed away on Tuesday evening, July 29, 2025, at her home in Columbus, Ohio, with her family by her side.

Born on April 26, 1943, in Tiffin, Ohio, Nancy was the daughter of Daryl and Lucille (Good) Orwig. She grew up in Tiffin, where she worked in her family’s business, Frosted Foods, and later at Ballreich’s and the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.

Nancy was a strong-willed woman with a smile that could light up the world and a laugh she kept her entire life. Her kind and generous heart touched everyone she met. She was the kind of person who showed up for others — whether it was cheering on local football teams, supporting young cheerleaders, or simply being present. Many came to know her as “Grandma Nancy,” whether related or not, and she embraced that role with warmth and joy.

Nancy loved animals deeply — it was almost guaranteed there would be a dog (or four) curled up on her lap. Her warmth drew them in, just like it did people. She was also an incredibly talented seamstress and poured love and care into everything she created.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Juliana (Jeff) Moore of Columbus, who lovingly cared for her in their home through her final days, and her son, Scott (Laura) Engleman of Sandusky. She is also survived by her brother, Tom (Barb) Orwig of Tiffin, and many cherished friends, honorary grandchildren, and beloved pets who brought her joy and comfort throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daryl and Lucille, and her brother, Mel (Cheri) Orwig.

To know Nancy was to be blessed by her loving light. The world is a better place for her having been in it, and she will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made toward the placement of memorial garden benches in her honor in both Tiffin and Columbus — a peaceful and lasting tribute to a woman who gave so much of herself to others.
