Heaven gained a mighty soul when Nancy Jane McCollins was welcomed into eternity on July 23rd, 2025, surrounded by the grace she so freely gave throughout her life. Nancy completed her earthly journey and stepped into the arms of Jesus, with angels rejoicing and a heavenly choir gathered in her honor.
A gifted singer, pianist, and organist, Nancy was the heart and soul of her church's music ministry. Her melodies were more than notes—they were prayers in song, lifting spirits and bringing glory to God. Whether leading the choir, a special music group, playing for the Olentangy River Boys, singing a duet with her son, or encouraging others to raise their voices, Nancy created sacred spaces where faith bloomed, and hearts were healed.
Her life’s deepest devotion was to her family. She loved fully and fiercely—with every prayer whispered, every meal prepared, and every hug given as if it were sacred. Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, offering each loved one her undivided presence, her wisdom, and her boundless grace. She rejoiced in every milestone and carried each heartache as if it were her own, always pointing others toward hope and healing.
Truly, she was the living definition of “behind every great man is an even greater woman,” with a strength forged in grace and humility. Her love built legacies—quietly, faithfully, intentionally.
Her truest superpower, though, was her faith. She was a prayer warrior in the deepest sense, intentional, unwavering, and fierce in her intercession. If Nancy said she’d pray for you, you knew heaven’s gates had been stormed on your behalf and angels had been dispatched. She lived as a vessel of divine love, always reflecting the light of Christ.
Nancy cherished her church community and lived every day in loving service to Jesus. One of her favorite hymns was "No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus", a testament to the intimate and enduring relationship she had with her Savior. Its refrain echoed through her life: “Every day He comes to me with new assurance / More and more I understand His words of love.” That profound truth was one she carried and shared with everyone who crossed her path.
She is survived by her son Robert (Bobby) McCollins, granddaughter Megan Maple (McCollins), her husband Matt Maple and the two most special great grandsons Grant and Wesley Maple. She joins the love of her life, husband Dr. Robert N. McCollins, parents Everett and Pauline Crouch, sister Janice Walker (Crouch), her favorite Niece Cindy Jolliff (Walker), and many other dear family members who were there to greet her at the pearly gates and gather now in her eternal home.
A celebration of Nancy’s life and faith will be held at Worthington Christian Church, 8145 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43235 on Saturday, August 2nd beginning at 3:45 with an old-fashioned hymn sing. Following the service friends and family will gather to share memories of this life well lived in the church Atrium.
As Mom would want, the family requests on lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Worthington Christian Church and designated to the Worship and Music Ministry.
We are grateful to the Shaw-Davis Funeral Homes and Cremation Services for their kind, gentle care in handling the arrangements. www.shaw-davis.com
