Patricia Petrochuk

It is with great love and sadness that the family of Patricia Ann Carroll Petrochuk—beloved artist, wife, mother, and grandmother—share her death on August 8th, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 75.

Patti was that rare soul who could always sense the light behind the shadows of this life. She knew how to be still, how to seek out the things that mattered, and had a beautiful way of translating the poetry of simple moments into a wealth of deep awareness. Whether it was tending to a cactus from a tiny clipping or filling a canvas with her unique vision, Patti loved to create. She added beauty to the world in humble, quiet ways that will live on because of her love, as well as her potent authenticity.

Born August 16, 1949, in Waterbury, Connecticut, Patti graduated from Kent State University with a B.A. in Fine Arts before moving to San Francisco, where she worked as a curatorial assistant in MoMA’s Photography Department. One of her favorite exhibits was one she curated herself, entitled, “Light: From Illumination to Pure Radiance.” Nothing could capture what she embodied more. Later, Patti worked at other museums and publications around the country, including at the Baltimore Museum of Art and Columbus Museum of Art. She was an avid painter, journaler, and devoted fan of Paul McCartney, Bono, her brother Bill, and Hozier.

Patti leaves behind her husband, Konstantin Petrochuk also of Columbus, daughter and son-in-law Nicole Ziza and Seth Bauer of Bassano del Grappa, Italy, daughter Miranda Petrochuk of Delaware, and her treasured grandson Costa—who will always remember her as the one and only “Donut.” She also leaves behind her remaining siblings, MaryFrances Alonzo of Plantsville, CT, Susan (Dennis) Grasso of North Las Vegas, NV, brothers Robert and Peter, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Patricia, and siblings Catherine, John, William, James, and Thomas.
