Paul Koscik

February 19, 1948 — November 24, 2021

Paul Chester Koscik passed into the arms of a loving God on November 24, 2021 at Kobacker House, after an 11 month battle with Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma.  Paul was born February 19, 1948, in Akron, Ohio to Chester and Elsie Koscik (nee Schlichte).  He earned his BS in Political Science from the University of Akron in 1970, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Akron Law School in 1973.  Paul retired from the Huntington National Bank in 2016, after a 34 year career as an investment professional.  Paul found profound joy in his family, career, the pursuit of the perfect golf game, traveling and watching the Buckeyes.  His family and friends will remember him for his unending compassion, his easy going and quiet demeanor, and his goofy jokes.  His old golfing partners will particularly remember him for always losing his golf ball on the course.

Paul is survived by his wife and best friend of 31 years, Sharon Koscik; sons Phillip Hein (Kasey) and Grant Koscik (Maddy Byrns); three grandchildren who were the light of his life and who affectionately called him Poppi - Jonah, Brenna and Joshua Hein; brother James Koscik (Annette) and sister Carol Seger (Gary); his mother-in-law Margaret Verrall; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; two cats who provided endless delight to him, Hobbes and Gonzo, and the canine love of his life, Mr. Peabody.  Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Elsie Koscik, and his son Jeffrey Koscik.

The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the James Cancer Hospital, who cared for Paul during multiple hospitalizations and who gave their never-ending support, and to the staff at Kobacker House, who lovingly cared for Paul in his final days.  A special thank you goes to Dr. John Reneau (Paul’s oncologist) and Dr. Robert Baiocchi.  You both know how special you are.

A memorial service for Paul will be held Saturday, December 11th at Linworth Baptist Church, 6200 Linworth Road, Worthington, Ohio, 43085.  Calling hours will be held from 9:00-10:00 am, service at 10:00 am.  A private family luncheon will be held directly after the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either of the two following charities:  The Paul and Sharon Koscik Family Lymphoma Cancer Research Fund, check payable to the James Comprehensive Cancer Center, mailing address OSU Foundation, PO Box 710811, Columbus, Ohio, 43271-0811 or Grateful Hearts Senior Dog Rescue & Sanctuary, 241 Park Street, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.

Rest well, my love.  I will see you on the other side.
