Paul E Melton Jr., also affectionately known as “P.J.” or “Pauly”, passed away at the age of 67 on Feb 1st 2026 at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville.
He was born on July 25th, 1958 and was raised in Columbus/Westerville. Paul worked all over the Central OH area as a painter for 45 years. He was a fan of Grandad’s and Classics pizzas, Yogi’s Hoagies and the Columbus Clippers.
He loved watching and listening to live sports on TV and radio, he especially enjoyed Buckeye football, the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and NASCAR.
Paul also loved animals and being outdoors. He was happiest when camping and visiting the sites at Salt Fork State Park.
But the love of his life was, without a doubt, music, and he shared this love of music with those around him. His favorite bands included The White Stripes, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, and The Beatles.
Paul was preceded in death by his son James W. Melton, sisters Roberta Melton and Barbara Palmer, parents Paul (Martha) E. Melton Sr. and Mary Ann Melton.
He is survived by his son Jason M. Melton and daughter Mindy R. Parrish. Long time friend and partner Kelly Cole. Step daughters Theresa Cole and Abby Cole. Grandsons Malakai Melton and Donavan Hawk, and granddaughters Alexis Parrish, Morgan Glover, Sierra Gregory, Tayla Underwood, Ariana Thompson. Brothers Ronn, Tom, Steve and John Melton, sisters Kathy Richardson and Connie Johnson.
He will be missed by many friends and family.
