Peggy Jean (Strouse) Jones, 93, of Cold Springs, KY entered Heaven’s Gate on Monday, April 17, 2023. She was born on April 24, 1929, in Brinkhaven, OH, and died suddenly of a stroke, one week before her 94th birthday. Peggy was the daughter of Robert and Twila (Matheny) Strouse. She and her husband Floyd (who passed away on January 14, 2023) were long time residents of Holmes County, OH and had been married for over 75 years. They had a family farm near Glenmont and spent several years in Walnut Creek, OH. They also lived many years in Florida and retired to Ft Myers, FL. For the last 2 years she lived with her oldest daughter, Paula Russell in Cold Springs, KY.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Twila Strouse, husband, Floyd Jones, her son, Danny Jones, brothers Duane and Tom Strouse, and grandson, Kirk Horn. She is survived by a brother, Jerry Strouse of Millersburg, OH, a sister Lois (Bill) of Wooster, OH, daughters, Paula (Chuck) Russell of Cold Springs, KY, Jenny (Bob) Horn of Columbus, OH and Judy Jones of Lancaster, OH, along with 6 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and of course, her beloved dog Pepi.
Peggy and Floyd were always active in any church they attended from Union Grove Church of Christ in Killbuck, OH to Safe Harbor Church in Ft Myers, FL. She was famous for bringing her home-made baked goods to any church function. She joined services at New Hope Christian Center every Sunday on Facebook and became friends with many of the people there.
Peggy will fondly and lovingly be remembered for her amazing and delicious cooking, sunny disposition with a great sense of humor, her beautiful singing and playing the organ with Pepi on the bench beside her. She never missed sending birthday cards to her family along with a positive note of love. At a recent doctor’s appointment for her annual physical, her doctor asked Peggy what was the secret to her long life and Peggy answered: “Love”. Peggy lived it and left a legacy of love with her family and friends.
There will be a memorial service on May 12th, 11:00am at the New Hope Christian Center (Chuck and Polly’s church), 941 Central Ave, Newport, KY 41071. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New Hope Christian Center: https://tithe.ly/give_new/www/#/tithely/give-one-time/19185
