Raphael Lemarr Turner

Raphael Lemarr Turner was born on March 6, 1965, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Evon Whorton and Elroy Turner, Sr. On September 29, 2026, Raphael peacefully entered eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, faith, and family.

Raphael was educated in the Columbus City School District. He graduated from West High School but proudly carried the spirit of Tiger Pride from his three years at East High School. Known for his joking and joyful presence, he loved to laugh, connect with others, and bring light into any room he entered.

Raphael deeply loved God and was a member of Higher Dimensions Ministries. He found comfort, strength, and joy in listening to gospel music. He was also an avid football fan. His favorite teams were The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers, but above all, he cheered the loudest for whichever team his sons were playing on—those were his true champions.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Evon Whorton; father, Elroy Turner, Sr.; sister, Beverly Johnson; brother, John R. Whorton; and sister-in-law Angela Whorton.

Raphael is survived by his four loving sons: Raphael A. Turner, Savion Turner, Caleb Turner, and Cameron Turner. He is also survived by his brothers Elroy (Shelia) Turner Jr., Kevin (Veneca) Turner; sisters Vicki (Robert) Syke-Cherry, Shana Ward, Doretha Turner, Tempie Turner, and Cynthia Whorton; sister-nieces Demetria Smith-Cromwell, Carmelita (Fred) Yates; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him.

Raphael will be remembered for his faith, humor, loving heart, and the pride he took in his family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
