Richard Alan Cross

October 17, 1933 — July 18, 2025

Richard Alan Cross of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio on July 18, 2025, at the age of 91, after a brief but severe illness. Richard was born on October 17, 1933, to Harry H. Cross and Edna Cross Rohwedder who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his sister, Carol (Frank) Mullendore, his uncle John H Rohwedder, his uncle George Rohwedder, and granddaughter Thalina Nicole Cross.

Richard is survived by his daughter and caregiver, Kathleen Cross Wright (Connor); his son Kevin R. Cross (Becky); his daughter, Kristen M. (Cross) Allen; and his daughter Huffa Frobes-Cross. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, former spouse Patricia Frobes, and long-time best friend Jan McReynolds, as well as numerous close friends and former colleagues.

Richard had family, summer breezes, music, friends, and birdsong around him. He always wanted to be lost in the world with the people he pulled close and often said that he “followed his bliss.” His kindness and love were felt by everyone he met on his journey.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to OhioHealth Compassus Hospice and the entire staff of Kobacker House for their compassionate care, comfort, and support during Richard's final weeks. We are deeply grateful to our close friends, Joan Couden, Carol Armann, Jess and Matt Richter, Cindy Firestone, Mary Gantzer, and to our family for their unwavering support during this difficult time. Additionally, we sincerely appreciate the thoughtfulness of the Shaw-Davis team.
