Robert (Bob) Glen Burleson, 77, transitioned peacefully to heaven on April 13, 2023. Bob was the backbone of his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Phyllis, whom he adored and loved with all his heart. He often referred to her as his superwoman. They shared 44 beautiful years of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was a loving father to his children and cherished the memories they created.
As a papaw, Bob was genuinely exceptional. He was so proud of his grandchildren and loved spending time with them, teaching them about life and making memories. His words of advice when guiding his children and grandchildren were, “Would you do or say that in front of Jesus”. He enjoyed his Bible studies with Mason Brooks, fishing, coffee and morning donuts with Robbie Gloeckner and visits with Robbie’s fiancée, Caroline, and visits with Nick (Laura) Shepherd, Aaron (Caitlyn) Shepherd, Sam Shepherd, Jake (Liz) Shepherd, Connor Burleson, Joel Burleson, Jack Burleson, and Grace Burleson. He loved seeing his grandkids become parents and enjoyed visiting his great-grandchildren, Cassie, Cora, Izzy, Josiah, Lydia. Liam, Noah, and Olivia
Bob was the guardian of his younger brother Dan after the passing of their mother. He spent many hours sitting on the porch with his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Sue. For many years, Bob and Dan spent time weekly having lunch at Dan’s favorite restaurant, Bob Evans and driving around listening to Oldies but Goodies. Bob was eternally grateful to Peter Agree, Dan's caretaker, for 15 years. Not only was Peter a caretaker, but he became part of Bob's family and Dan’s best friend.
Bob retired from United Parcel Service as Plant District Engineer after 32 years. He was known for his work ethic, hard work, organization, attention to detail, and thorough notes both in his personal and professional life. He could often be found reading his Bible, writing in his Day-Timer, or enjoying OSU Sports.
Bob was born in Columbus, Ohio, on July 23, 1945, to Ralph and Ruth Dillon Burleson. His brothers John, Jim, Dan, and niece Shelly preceded him in death. He is survived by his devoted wife, Phyllis; Brother Mike (Debbie) Burleson; Sister, Barbara (Jim) Jones; Children Andrea (Ed) Parker, Jennifer (Kyle) Overmyer, Todd A. Burleson, Todd S. (Erica) Burleson, and Paula (Bob) Shepherd; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob will be cremated at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home, and he did not want a memorial. He asked that you cherish the memories made with him and that be the way you memorialize him. He loved helping children, so donations can be made in his honor to St. Jude Cancer Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications.html
Rest in eternal peace, Bob. You will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved you.
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song, I praise him” (Psalm 28:7).
