Robert Clarence Loner

September 23, 1948 — June 10, 2023

Robert Clarence Loner was born in Blytheville, Arkansas on September 23rd, 1948. He passed away comfortably and surrounded by his loved ones on June 10th, 2023.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Vera and Elbert Pugh, and his memory will forever be cherished by his wife of 50 years Sandra Smith-Loner, his only daughter Yolanda Smith-Porter (Andre Porter), and grandson Elijah Maximus Ware. Not to mention, there are many other relatives and friends both in and out of the state of Ohio that will keep his memory alive.

Robert was enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the Vietnam war as a sergeant, and received many different pieces of recognition for his efforts and sacrifices. Said awards include the Bronze Star Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Post-war, Robert established himself a family-becoming a loving husband for Sandra and taking upon the role of a father for a young Yolanda. Robert also eventually became a loving grandfather to Elijah for 14 years, providing marvelous wisdom, advice, and happy moments. Throughout the final years of his life, Robert worked many jobs (including a catering position as well as a position at a steel mill) before eventually settling down into retirement. Always loving, and filled with everlasting compassion, wit and vigor, Robert continued to care for his family until his final moments, and the memories of his gentle spirit will be cherished evermore.
