Roberta Jeanne Fry Smith, 82, passed away March 21st, 2015.  She was born July 13, 1932 in Mount Vernon, Ohio to Robert and Madge Fry.  She graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and was a magazine editor in Columbus for four years and a teacher in Upper Arlington High School in her early career.  She became the first woman faculty member at The Ohio State University School of Journalism.  Roberta earned three degrees after being a student at Ohio Wesleyan, Ohio State and University of Colorado.  Roberta was an editor at Scholastic Publishing in New York, NY and she was author of The Co-ed Decorating Book published in 1968.  Roberta enjoyed music, reading and nature and lived in Galena, Ohio for 21 years.  Roberta is survived by her daughter, Kyla (Dave) Cologgi; and grandson, Ryan Cologgi.  She was married to her devoted husband, Francis Eugene (Gene) Smith for 49 years.  A private interment service will be held at Mount View Cemetery this spring.  The family is requesting that donations may be made in Roberta’s memory to the Humane Society of Delaware County, 4920 State Route 37 East, Delaware, Ohio 43015.
