Rodney Terrell Sherrod, 39, made his heavenly transition on Monday, December 1, 2025, at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family.
Rodney was born on May 1, 1986, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Karen R. Smalls and Rodney S. Sherrod. A proud Philly native, he was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia 76ers and the Philadelphia Eagles. He was also a passionate gamer and avid anime watcher. Above all, Rodney loved spending time with his children and family—his presence brought comfort, joy, and laughter to every room he entered.
In 2013, Rodney relocated to Columbus, Ohio, to explore new opportunities. It was there that he met the love of his life, Alexis Sherrod, with whom he built a beautiful life and family. Rodney was a gentle soul, a natural prankster, and someone whose mission was always to make others smile. His heart overflowed with love, kindness, and humor.
In September 2019, Rodney proudly graduated from the Philadelphia Technician Training Institute with a certification in Manufacturing and Automation. He later worked for Just Electric, where he enjoyed his time until the onset of the pandemic.
Rodney was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Smalls; his grandfather, Emanuel Smalls; his stepfather, James Davenport Jr.; and his uncle, Emanuel Smalls Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Alexis Sherrod; his beloved daughter, Samaj Sherrod; and his son, Kai Sherrod. He is also survived by his father, Rodney S. (Rhonda) Sherrod; his in-laws, Anita Dickson and Aaron Dickson Sr.; his grandmother, Josephine Smalls; grandparents, Roy and Marian Sherrod; brothers, Charles (CJ) Davenport, James Davenport III, Chuck Brown, Arquan Lockett Sr., and Aaron Dickson Jr.; sisters, Khloe Sherrod, Desiree (Michael) Hawkins, and Aijah Lockett,uncles, Mark Smalls and Roy Sherrod; aunts, Robin Sherrod, Leya Sherrod, and Keesha Smalls; godchildren, Brenda (BJ) and Arquan (AJ) Lockett Jr., and Kaila Riley; and a host of loving family members and friends. Rodney also shared a special bond with his cousins Mia Newbill, Tiana St. Victor,Shaquille Holt, David , Albert( Beez) ,and the Lockett Family.
Rodney’s legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
