Ronald D Gibson, age 77, of West Jefferson, Ohio passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on October 17, 2025 at Kobacker House, Columbus, Ohio. 

Ron was born to Oscar and Ethel(Magnuson) Gibson on February 9,1948 in Columbus, Ohio. Graduating from London High School, he was a lifelong Red Raider. Ron proudly served in the US Air Force and retired from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. Ron was known to many as “Coach”. He was associated with the London Area Baseball Council for many years and was instrumental in the creation of the London Middle School football program. He also coached for London High School’s baseball and football teams and the American Legion Baseball. 

Ron is survived by his wife of 57 years JoEllen(Leonard)Gibson and his children Tricia(Jared)Bell, Robert(Tessa) Gibson, Ellen(Mike) Cox, and Kevin(Megan)Gibson. He was happy to be Papaw to his grandchildren Bailey(Michael) Morrow, Taylor(Daniel) Pritchard, Payton(Wyatt) Cox ,Ada Gibson, Nathan(Autumn) Bell, Zeke(Sophia) Gibson, and Landon Gibson ; Great grandchildren Brody, Rhett, Jameson, Andrew, and Olivia. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley(Robert) Adelsberger, stepmother Patricia Gibson, stepsister Ann(Tim) Beathard, and stepbrother Keith Turvy.; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be greatly missed by his furry companion Beau. 

Ron was preceded in death by his parents , stepfather William Wagner ,and daughter-in- law Tiffany( Setzer) Gibson. 

At Ron‘s request there will be no formal services. His wish was to have his ashes spread in areas of Buckeye Lake and Lake Erie, where he had great fishing memories with his dad, sons, grandchildren, and friends; including his special fishing buddies Juan, Santi, and Juan Navarro and longtime friend Fred McCafferty.
