Sandra Marlene Rodenfels

Sandra “Sandy” Rodenfels, age 81, of Worthington, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, May 16th, 2026 at Country View of Sunbury, after suffering a stroke in January of this year.

Sandy was born in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated from Linden-McKinley High School in 1962. She held various positions throughout her life but treasured working at her sister’s furniture [KM1] store, Riverside Casual in the mid-1980’s. Subsequently, she went on to work for Dr. Thomas Verhoff, DDS, as an insurance specialist, where she retired after working there for many years.

Sandy was the youngest of four children of the late Albert and Inez Barton. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael, her brother Terry (Barb) Barton, sister Diane (Larry) Morris, and sister-in-law, Bobbie (George) Rubin. She is survived by her daughter, Kristi (Bruce) Miller, sister Sue Rotunda, brother-in-law’s, Fr. Jerry Rodenfels, Joe Rodenfels (Becca) and grand dog, Beckham. She had six nephews and nieces that she loved dearly as well as their children.

In addition to her family, she treasured her friends and particularly enjoyed going to lunch or dinner with them. She always looked forward to the monthly “lunch bunch” outings with her Linden McKinley classmates. Sandy was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in New Albany, Ohio, where she also had many friends. She loved nature, traveling and animals, particularly her many grand dogs throughout the years as well as her nephew Pat’s dog, Peanut. She had a wicked sense of humor, which she maintained to the end, but was also known for her compassion and kindness.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, June 18th from 1-3 on N. High Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CHA animal shelter in Columbus. Ohio or a local animal shelter of your choosing. Kristi would like to thank the nurses and nursing assistants of Country View that cared for her mother, as well as the Bella Care Hospice team, particularly Carrie and Emilie, that provided care and comfort to both Sandy and Kristi.
