Sharon L. Grimes, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at the age of 89, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her life was a testament to kindness, patience, and unconditional love.
Born on December 9, 1935, in Columbus, Ohio, Sharon grew up with a deep appreciation for family and simple joys. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy, and worked at Ohio Bell as a young adult, and at Otto’s Deli later in life. She married Richard Grimes in 1956 at St. Leo Church in German Village, and together they built a faith-filled Catholic family centered around their five daughters.
Sharon was known for her gentle spirit, her willingness to listen without judgment, and her ability to make everyone feel valued. She was a second Mom to many in the neighborhood, and a friend to all, both young and old. She was quick to laugh, and found humor in the everyday moments of life, especially if it was one of her girls cracking her up.
Her greatest joy was being with her family, especially her mother, Mabel, and her children and grandchildren, whose lives she touched with her wisdom, humor, and unwavering support.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharmon Grimes, Shelley Knepp (John), Kinnerly Valenti (Steve) and Richauna Jones (Scott), grand-children, Rachel Knepp, Andrea Knepp (Mitch), Jarret Jones (Carina), Wyatt Jones (Dixie), Weston Jones (Yesle), Stephanie Wyborski (Matt), Samuel Valenti, and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Linnea, Luke and Jesse Wyborski. She is reunited in heaven with her husband, Richard, daughter, Shannon Grimes, parents, Andrew and Mabel Fischer, and sister, Sondra Goodwin.
Her legacy is one of love, generosity, and quiet strength. Though she will be deeply missed, her presence will be felt in every life she touched.
