Suzanne Baker Pusecker

Suzanne Baker Pusecker died peacefully on November 2nd 2025, age 89, at her home in Columbus, Ohio after a brief but determined battle with esophageal cancer. She was surrounded by loving family. 

Suzanne was born to Elizabeth and Donald Baker in Urbana Ohio but lived most of her years in Columbus, Ohio.

Sue was a graceful athlete and possessed strength and grace. In high school she was a high stepping baton twirling majorette and had the honor of marching with her high school band the length of the stadium as part of the half time festivities during an OSU Buckeyes game. She danced in college. In her late 20s and early 30s her lifelong love of horses led to jumping thoroughbreds. In her early 40s her adventurous nature combined with her independent spirit and she embarked on a solo bike trip traveling the length and breadth of Ireland. Since then she practiced yoga, and explored beautiful places camping and hiking. She especially loved the Blue Ridge Mountains and coastal Maine. 

Sue was a successful businesswoman: a bookseller for over 30 years. In her retirement she used her creativity and artistic nature into becoming an accomplished fiber artist participating in many art shows including juried shows throughout Ohio and surrounding states. 

Sue was generous and gave of herself by participating in the Women's Health Initiative, leading exercise classes until early this year, volunteering at the Park of Roses, and sharing her love of fiber arts by teaching others. 

Sue was always, and continued to be until her final weeks, an avid reader with a curious mind and always made a concerted effort to be well informed. Sue possessed a sunny spirit and positive attitude and remained bright and vibrant until mere weeks before her death. 

Sue was beloved by family and friends, is missed beyond measure and will be remembered with boundless love. 

Survived by her husband of 46 years, Michael, as well as her large and loving family. 

Suzanne would be honored to be remembered by donations to the OSU James where she received compassionate care, the National Church Residency Hospice program who provided excellent comfort care in her final weeks, the Park of Roses (Columbus Parks and Recreation) which she dearly loved or the Cancer Support Community here in Columbus where she drew support and comfort while navigating the challenges of living with cancer.
