Edward “Ted” C Schleappi II, age 59, unexpectedly and peacefully passed away at his home on August 20, 2023 in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on August 8, 1964, and was the youngest child to Edward C Schleappi and Patricia Anne (nee McCullough) Schleappi. Ted began his life growing up on his family’s Ohio farm in Beach City, Ohio. He attended Tuscarawas Valley HS and graduated from Caldwell HS in Noble County, Ohio in 1982. In high school Ted earned letters in baseball, attended Buckeye Boys State, and worked for the Ohio Youth Conservation Corp.

After high school Ted attended Ohio University for one year then joined the US Army, serving for two years. Returning home, he worked at the Medina Municipal Airport. He crewed for his brother’s auto racing team and completed a BMW advanced driving racing course. Ted moved to Columbus Ohio in 1985, working for America West while attending Columbus State Community College. In 1999, he began as IT Director at the Ohio Republican Party. Ted went on to be IT Director at Aegis/Mission Essential Personnel, worked for Studio 47 as a professional truck driver, and most recently worked in Business IT for Spectrum/Charter Communications.

Ted married in 2003, and had two children, Colin and Evelyn. He loved his family and worked hard to make special memories with his nephews and children when they were young. A passionate outdoorsman, Ted enjoyed camping, fishing, and being on the water. He loved music – playing the guitar and ukulele, attending local music concerts and festivals, and jamming out to everything from Pearl Jam to Scottish jigs. A member of First Community Church, he was a faithful seeker of God’s love and light. He was eclectic and whimsical - and he will be missed.

Ted is survived by his college-attending son Colin Schleappi and high school senior daughter Evelyn Schleappi, mother Patricia (Roy) Clark, sisters LuAnn (Don) Ross and Stephanie Schleappi, sister-in-law Rose Schleappi, nephews Jacob and Samuel Schleappi, the mother of his children Caroline (nee Heck) Gatsch, maternal uncles Charles “Chip” (Karen) McCullough and Terry (Nancy, Sandy) McCullough, and many cousins. Preceding him in death are his brother Scott Schleappi, father Edward C Schleappi, and maternal grandparents Charles (Sr) and Juanita McCullough.
