It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Tom L. Ewing on June 10,2025 at the age of 71.
Born on May 15, 1954, in Columbus, Ohio to Richard and Lois Ewing; one of five children. He was raised in Columbus where he graduated from West High School in 1972. After graduation he joined the Navy (SeaBee) and served his country for four years.
He served as a Deputy for the Franklin County Sherriff’s Office from 1977-1990. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service from where he retired. He held various other jobs throughout the years including the Auto Zone where he was working almost until the day he died.
Tom's biggest love was his family, following that it was his music, Lynyrd Skynyrd, classic cars, his vintage Corvette and Harleys. He had a heart of gold and always did his best to take care of his family unconditionally.
Tom is preceded in death by his wife Edna Ewing; parents Richard and Lois Ewing; his son, Jeremiah (Nicole); his sister, Lisa Washburn and niece Holly Ewing and nephew Jason Seely.
Survived by his son, Tom (Alice), Grandchildren Destini and Tommi. His daughter, Tammy and Grandchildren Cody (Jen), Rylie (Duwayne), Great Grandchild Ramiah; and Jesse Akers (Carol mother of Tom’s children). He also leaves behind Granddaughter, Olivia and her three sons Jeremiah, Zachariah and Jaziah. Brothers Rick (Lynn), Jeff (Vicky); sister Colleen Hazelbaker (Jon). Many beloved nieces and nephews and dear friends, too numerous to mention.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 27th at 10:00 am at Grace of God Lutheran Church 1000 Demorest Rd. Columbus, Ohio 43204.
