Timothy Lowell Steiner

Timothy Lowell Steiner, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on August 18th 2025 at the age of 75 at the Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Wooster, Ohio to Lowell and Shirley Steiner on August 17th, 1950. He graduated from Wooster High School before starting college at Nyack College in New York where he studied missions. Tim met his wife, the love of his life, Rebecca "Becki", while studying there. Upon finishing his studies Tim and his wife briefly moved to Virginia before moving to Georgia to begin ministry in a church plant in Griffin, Georgia for the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Tim became a father for the first time to Jill while living in Georgia. Tim and family took a position at First Alliance Church in Columbus, Ohio as a youth pastor after two years in Georgia. Tim served at First Alliance Church for two years. He started his career as a missionary for the Christian and Missionary Alliance in 1978 when he and the family moved to France to study French for a year before moving to Mali, West Africa. Tim served 12 years in Mali, planting churches and serving as a business agent, and also welcomed two more children, Jasmine and Justina, during that time. In 1993, Tim and family returned to Columbus, Ohio where Tim acquired his Master's Degree in Theology from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. In 1996, Tim and family were sent to North Africa as some of the first creative access workers with the Christian and Missionary Alliance. While living in North Africa, Tim opened and ran a branch of SDMyers before being reassigned in 2013 to serve in Bordeaux, France training lay leaders through the Christian and Missionary Alliance churches in France. Tim retired in 2016 and moved to Whitehall, Ohio with his wife. Tim was active in Hope Church in Westerville, Ohio, even serving as a lay leader and interim pastor for a period of time. Tim was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 2023 and fought through multiple treatments and surgeries.

Tim was a diehard Ohio State Buckeye fan, loved to play/watch tennis and golf, and travel (some out of the way places that he got to explore are Timbuktu, Malta, Gibraltar, Qatar, and Russia). He loved asking questions to complete strangers and sharing all that God had done in his life. His retirement was filled with playing golf, teasing his grandchildren, finding ways to serve God, and spending time with his family. At the end of his life, Tim stated that his main goal was to bring glory to God and be a witness to Jesus through it all.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Becki Steiner; his daughters, Jill Hartman, Jasmine Eisinger, and Justina Nesler; his sons-in-law, Doug Hartman, Daniel Eisinger, and Chris Nesler; and his cherished grandchildren, Sophie, Anna, Tobias, Elizabeth, Nicholas, and Eleanor. He also leaves behind his siblings, Rebekah Fisk, Deborah Eichelberger, Elizabeth McMutrie, Daniel Steiner, Phoebe Gerdes, and Joanna Stumbo. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Frederick Steiner.

Tim's memorial service will be held Saturday August the 23rd at 3pm at Hope Church, 75 E Schrock Road, Westerville, Ohio.
