Virginia Mae "Ginny" (Hawker) Hart, age 91, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026 surrounded by her family. Born on August 3, 1935, in Dayton, Ohio, she spent most of her life in her hometown before moving to Columbus, Ohio, in 2014.
She was a proud 1953 graduate of Co-Op High School in Dayton. After graduation, she spent her professional years as a dedicated secretary for Dayton Power & Light (DP&L), Tektronix, and West Carrollton Schools, among others. She was a devoted stay at home mom and an active volunteer in her community. She enjoyed playing the piano and the accordion, sewing, reading and tending to her plants and garden. She was an avid walker and rarely missed her daily neighborhood walks.
Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Hart, and her parents, Carl and Catherine (Wolf) Hawker. She is survived by her loving children: Susan Jones and her husband Joe Jones, Kathy Hart and her husband Dave Huelsman, and Steve Hart and his wife Lisa Hart. She was a proud grandmother to her six grandchildren: Regan Jones, Ava Jones, Colin Huelsman, Jonah Huelsman, Jackson Hart, and William Hart. She also leaves behind beloved siblings: her sisters Arlene Haeseker and Dorothy Alders, her brother Jerry Hawker and his wife Carol Hawker, along with extended family and friends who will miss her deeply.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life gathering in Dayton, Ohio, to take place at a later date. Remembrances in honor of Virginia may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.
