Walter J. Miller

October 20, 1935 — April 30, 2026

Walter J Miller, born 10/20/1935 in Columbus, OH passed away 4/30/2026 at St Ann’s hospital surrounded by his family. Known to most as Walt, he was known to all of us as Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and G-Gpa. He and Barb have been married since July of 1955, Father of 4, Grandfather of 13, Great Grandfather of 9 and Great, Great Grandfather of 1. His legacy will be the impact he had and will continue to have on this family. He loved us all so much and made sure we always knew that. He had a way about him that is hard to describe, genuinely caring in the way he checked in on everyone to make sure we were all okay and doing well. He could often sense when we weren’t and made sure we got extra words of encouragement, an extra hug or a prayer over us. He was an avid gardener and could always be found pulling seeds and pods to make sure the garden was in all its glory! Also, a major sports fan, he loved his Ohio teams – The Buckeyes, The Browns and The Indians (not the Guardians). He could be found attending as many of his kids and grandkids’ sporting events as he could possibly make! He was passionate about his Faith and served in many ways over the years as a member of Thomas Avenue, Linden, His Place Street Ministry, Beechwold and lastly at Quest. He served as an elder, a bibleschool teacher, youth group leader and home visits for the sick and elderly who were homebound. He had a servant’s heart, always helping others with anything that he possibly could. Walt graduated from Central High School in 1954 where he was a member of the State Championship Baseball Team. He retired from the Defense Construction Supply Center after 33 years in 1993. He is preceded in death by his parents, his 6 siblings, his son Randy, his best friends Paul and Carolyn Smith. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara Miller, his children Mark (Lori) Miller, Glenn (Tracy) Miller, Kelly (Curtis) Endicott, daughter in law Lisa Miller, his grandchildren Jamie (Neal) Merchant, Tyler Miller, Joshua Endicott, Megan (Ryan) Hahn, Austin (Jessica) Miller, Jack (Jordan) Miller, Kathryn (Michael) Smith, Gary Miller, Brandon (Alicia) Endicott, Sean (Rachel) Endicott, Dylan, Hannah & Tessa Miller, his great grandchildren Conner, Kaelynn, Steven, Kennedy, Addilynn, Kamryn, Griffin, Morgan, Riley, and Arlo and his great great grandchild Sawyer and close family friends.

He will be missed beyond measure, but we know that he is in a much better place, healed of all his ailments, surrounded by the loved ones that went before him and likely already taking over the community garden and perhaps organizing a baseball team! Thank you for your support of our family during this difficult time. We appreciate all of you and love you for loving us and him.
