William R Porter

William (Bill) Porter of Galion, OH passed away on April 9, 2023, at age 75 after a short battle with cancer.  After graduating from Galion High School in 1966, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Vietnam as Staff Sergeant and Aircraft Load Master; he was awarded a Purple Heart for his service.  He attended Ohio State University.  He was formerly married to Linda Rigby from San Diego, CA and is survived by his daughter Annette Byrd and granddaughter Olivia Byrd of Valrico, FL.  Bill is predeceased by his parents Nelson and Dora (Earhart) Porter, previous owners of Porter’s Music Center in Galion, OH for many years.  Bill was brother to Barbara Porter, Jeffrey Porter, and Jeanine Porter.  He worked for Hydranamics, formerly; Carter Machine since 1974.  He was an accomplished drummer, avid fisherman, former triathlete, and had a passion for building computers.  Services are not yet planned.
