William (Bill) Rogers was born on November 9, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio to Isaac Rogers and Monterro McKinney. He had 11 siblings; Charles (Jack), Vando , Charlotte, Monterro, Archie, Isaac, Carl, Andrew, Betty and Jeanne.
In 1943, William was drafted into World War II, where he fought in Europe. He guarded German prisoners, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and more.
After the war, he married Margie Jeanne (Evans) Rogers on June 14, 1947 and bought his home on Barrymore Ave. They had 3 children, Michael Rogers (1947), Claudia (Rogers) Brown (1960), and William Rogers (1963). They were together until Jean’s death in 1997.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, bowling, airplanes, and riding the train. For many years in his later years he would take a yearly train trip to Las Vegas with a special friend, Georgia Booker. He participated in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was always happy when his children, grandchildren and friends would come and visit, and when he was telling his World War II stories.
On October 20, 2025, William passed away due to complications with Covid and pneumonia at the age of 101. William is preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, his wife Jean, his son Michael, his daughter in law Eileen Rogers and his grandson Jason Rogers. William is survived by his 2 children, Claudia (Dave) Brown and William (Lisa) Rogers, 6 grandchildren, Cory Brown, Alex (Hanna) Brown, William (Clark) Rogers, Gregory Rogers, Reoma Rogers, Lilian aka Cloud (Riley Harris) Rogers, and 6 great grandchildren, Elijah Stephens, Jaxon Stephens, Daniel Stephens, Scarlett Cisco, Violet Cisco and Clariam Rogers aka YamYam.
