Bonnie Valentine

January 1, 1941 — November 20, 2020

Bonnie J (Warsmith) Valentine died at home peacefully surrounded by loving family and friends on November 20, 2020. She was 79 years old. She was a life-long resident of Columbus, Ohio and spent many years at the family home in the Old Beechwold neighborhood. Bonnie was a beloved mother of three and grandmother to three beautiful young ladies.  She leaves behind her daughter Robin (Paul) Gilmartin and daughter Tia, her son Ryan (Laura) Valentine and daughters Abby and Alison, and son Travis Valentine (Amber Lee). She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Valentine, mother Janet (Sword) Warsmith, her father Harold and stepmother Janice Warsmith, and her brother Steve Warsmith.

Bonnie attended The Ohio State University and worked to support her husband Bob through design school in Michigan.

Bonnie was an avid artist and crafter, and spent several happy years at Studios on High in the Short North, at the forefront of the renaissance of the area.

Bonnie loved being a grandmother, and was so loving and attentive to her girls.  She loved to do puzzles with them, read to them, and play anything they asked her to play.  As the grandkids grew, she became a confidant and loved to hear their daily school stories.

Bonnie loved spending time playing cards and dominos. She loved dancing and parties. She valued time with family and friends. She loved to travel and meet with her friends from North High School in Columbus, and therefore loved anything having to do with polar bears.

Bonnie and her husband Bob enjoyed spending winters in Key West and hosting family and friends there. Bonnie and Bob were inaugural season ticket holders with the Columbus Blue Jackets and also enjoyed hosting family and friends at Blue Jackets games.

Bonnie greatly appreciated the care she received at The James Cancer Hospital at OSU, and the support of her friends and family throughout her struggle with her disease.

She will be sorely missed.
