David Rogers

June 17, 1952 — March 9, 2020

David (Dave) Lawrence Rogers, 67, of Columbus Ohio, passed away 9 March 2020 at his home.

Dave was born in Huntington, West Virginia, on June 17 1952, the second of four sons born to Julia A. Rogers (Wolfe, Hopkins) and Charles E. Rogers.  He was raised in Chesapeake, Ohio and graduated from Chesapeake High School in 1970.  Dave married Carolyn Purdue in the 1970’s and had one daughter (Jennifer).  Through the years Dave worked several jobs ranging from managing theaters to working for Earl Schibe Auto Body Repair in Nevada and Ohio.  Dave last worked in auto body repair and painting at his small shop in Columbus.  Dave was a gifted and skilled craftsman and had the ability to see the finished product in his “mind’s eye,” before the job was started.  He also enjoyed telling stories with friends and family, maybe playing a few songs on his harmonica and tending to his pet woodchucks. Dave had a tough exterior but had a warm loving heart and could always find a reason to smile.  He is survived by daughter Jennifer Townsend, and two grandsons Sebastian and Eric, Proctorville, OH.  Brothers: Chuck - Fisher, MN; Chucky - Chesapeake, OH; and Sisters: Dora Bennett and Katrina Rogers - Chesapeake, OH.  He is also survived by Nephews:   James Rogers -Grand Forks, ND;  Robert Rogers – Elk River, MN;  Joshua and Jeremiah Bennett – Chesapeake, OH; and Alan Rogers – Columbus, OH.   Dave is also survived by Nieces - Shelli and Sarah – Columbus, OH and Rebecca Mayenschein – Chesapeake, OH.  Dave was preceded in death by the love of his life Linda Schoolcraft, his mother Julia and father Charles as well as two younger brothers Alan, Patrick, and his only uncle Deward (Al) Wolfe.  An old hippie is now jamming in Blues Heaven.

Memorial will be announced at a later date.
