Deborah Gray

June 30, 1951 — July 14, 2020

Deborah "Debbie" Yvonne Gray, 69, of Columbus, Ohio passed away at home on July 14, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Debbie was the second child born to the union of William R. Gray and Helen C. (Boynton) Gray. She was born in Fort Campbell Kentucky on June 30, 1951. Graduating from North High School in Columbus, Ohio, and then went on to graduate from Fort Valley State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Home Economics and a minor in Chemistry. She worked for AFSCME International and then AFSCME Local 1632 for over 30 years.

Debbie loved to help others and had a great sense of humor. She devoted her time volunteering by building houses for Habitat for Humanity, for almost twenty years, there she found her true passion. She loved to cook (everyone loved her Texas Sheet Cake), garden, and sew. You also knew she really cared for you when she called you Turkey Monster or some other crazy name. She was an introvert when she thought she was an extrovert, she thought she could do anything and once became a swimming instructor when she didn't even know how to swim herself, she went out of her way to care for others and would be there for you when you really needed someone.

Preceded in death by her father William R. Gray, mother Helen C. Gray, sister Marguerite (Gray) Guess, and brother-in-law Donald Guess. She is survived by her two children, Christine and Jason; siblings, Elissa, Rev. Madonna, Sheila (David), and Joseph; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Family will have private service.
