Glenn O. Thompson, Sunrise Oct 12, 1929 to Sunset Sept 24, 2019. Preceded in death by parents JBR and Lenna (Coy) Thompson; siblings Genese, Rut, Ut, Hubert, Eugene and Yvonne; great-grandson Shaquez. Survived by loving wife of 67 years, Pat; children Brad (Patty), Bruce (Stephanie Stephens), Kim (Bill) JanTausch and Keela (Steven Harris); siblings Lois Seeger and Ralph (Jewell); grandchildren Brad II, Shad, Justin (Carrie), Maggie (Brett), Sarah (Jonathan) and Noah; great grandchildren Brad III, Brooklyn, Tahirah, Tieiah, Shandez and Emilia; 3 great great grandsons. Glenn was a graduate of West High School – Class of 1948. Retired from the US Postal Service after 31 years of service. Served in the US Navy as an HM3 during the Korean War as a corpsman attached to the US Marines. Glenn received a Silver Star for his service as well as a Purple Heart Medal, the Korean Service Medal with one star, and the United Nations Medal. Member of the Military Order of Purple Heart (MOPH) Chapter 500. Member of the American Legion as well as a Lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). In 2011, Glenn and Pat went to Washington, D.C. on an Honor Trip to the Korean War Memorial. His brick was dedicated at the Motts Military Museum in 2015. Glenn was inducted into the Ohio Military Hall of Fame and recognized by the Ford Oval of Honor in 2016. He was a Grand Marshall of the Columbus Red, White, and Boom Parade in that same year. Membership also included York Masonic Lodge 563 and Broad Street UMC. Glenn contributed to his community and church ministry as ‘Santa Claus’ for numerous years. A founding member in the creation of Victorian Village. His hobbies included bowling, fishing, RV–camping, and softball. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Motts Military Museum or Ohio Health Hospice.  Visitation will be held Monday 6-9 pm (Masonic Service at 7:30 pm) at the SHAW-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 34 W 2nd Ave, Cols, OH 43201. Funeral service Tuesday 1:00 pm with visitation beginning at Noon at the Broad Street UMC, 501 E Broad St, Cols, OH 43215. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware, OH.
