Jennifer Persons

October 4, 1999 — April 24, 2021

Jennifer Persons, October 4, 1999 - April 24, 2021

Jenna Persons passed away after losing her battle with depression. She was homeschooled, and enjoyed a variety of activities growing up — soccer, softball, gymnastics, cheerleading, and horseback riding among them. She loved kids, and babysat for several families in the Galena area. Jenna worked at the Polaris Bibibop during high school and during college breaks, and worked at Signarama of Gahanna the summer of the pandemic. She attended (poetry) Slam Camp in Bloomington in 2017, and treasured that experience.

When she passed, Jenna was a junior at Baldwin Wallace University, where she studied psychology, earned outstanding grades, was in the Honors Psych Club, was a First-Year Mentor, and was a cheerleader. She loved BW!

Jenna was sunshine and kindness. She left post it notes with encouraging messages for friends and strangers alike, and her smile would light up the darkest room. She was a poet and a writer, and was constantly encouraging her friends and checking up on everyone to make sure they were OK. She made us all better people.

Jenna is survived by her parents John and Georgi Persons of Galena, Ohio; her sister Robyn of Washington, DC and her partner Caitlin Gossan; her brother Daniel of Galena, Ohio; her Aunt Valerie Cross of Bucksport, Maine and her husband Mark Fleetwood of West Yorksire, England; her Aunt Cheryl Greenawalt and husband Bill and their family of Everett, PA; Grandmother Helen Haase and husband Jim of Edwardsburg, MI; Grandmother Pam Persons and her family of Holland, MI; Uncle Jerry Persons and his family of Grand Rapids, MI; Cousins Katie Courchene and husband Shawn of Bucksport, ME, and their children Devon, Dylan, Logyn, and Bella. She is also survived by her dear BW friends Nikki McBride, Sara Adams, Morgan Butler, Jenn Wood, Alexis Denyer, Cameron Walsh, Bella Moosa and Quintin Skelly; her cat Joey; her little "sister" Clara Thompson of Delaware, Ohio; Taylor Barker of Centerburg, OH, and many others she loved so dearly.

A service celebrating Jenna's life took place Monday, May 10 at Maple a Grove United Methodist Church and activities followed at the Alum Creek Below Dam Area.
