LaVon Harrison

August 27, 1941 — January 24, 2020

LaVon Jolene Harrison was embraced by God the early morning of Friday, January 24th, 2020. Born in Salina, KS in 1941 she joins her Mother Zelta Smaka, Step Father Frank Smaka of Azle, TX, Father Lloyd Edward Wilcox of Topeka, KS, sisters, Joan Jones of Dallas, TX and Beverly Wilcox of Salina, KS.

Survived by sister Lloydena Jean Richards, Lloyd Wilcox, and her five children, Christine Nearn, Xavier S Harrison Jr., Fred Harrison, Joi Harrison-Turner and Melonie Harrison Santos. Surviving are 17 nieces and nephews, 9 Grand Children and 4 Great Grandchildren.

LaVon took pride in her work in the hospitality industry for over 30 years, starting in St. Louis, MO at the Central Reservations Headquarters for Adams Mark Hotels. In the late 90’s LaVon moved to Columbus and began working as a PBX operator for the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Columbus. She was a Guest Services Representative for the Hilton Polaris where she loved working full-time and did so up until Christmas Eve when she took vacation to spend the holidays with her family.

LaVon volunteered for CAPA (Columbus Association for the Performing Arts), attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clintonville, and played Bingo at the Eagles lodge in Delaware.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Kobacker House, CAPA, or Misericordia Heart of Mercy #6187A.  LaVon’s Celebration of Life will be at the Hilton Polaris on Saturday, March 7th 2020, from 4pm-7pm.
