Mary Jane Carr

January 6, 1925 — November 18, 2019

Mary Jane Carr (Foster), born Jan. 6, 1925 - Nov. 18, 2019 first daughter to doting parents, the late Charlie and Edna Foster.  Reared on the generational farm overlooking the Ohio River in Plants, Ohio.  Mary Jane had an early start in life beginning first grade in the Plants one room school house on the adjoining farm prior to her 5th birthday. Upon graduation from Racine High School she immediately joined the war effort as office staff at the TNT Manufacturing Plant in Pt. Pleasant, WVa.  Later, moving to Columbus she continued her secretarial skills as an Executive Secretary for the Ohio Public Expenditure Council followed by Executive Legal Secretary for the late Attorney, George Weingartner.  These experiences, coupled with her work ethic and ability to connect with people formed the basis for her remarkable real estate career.  Licensed in Real Estate in 1950, she went on to obtain her Broker's license in 1963 and held the honor as one of the first five women brokers in the State of Ohio. She more recently earned the Realtor Emeritus Status in recognition of her 50 plus years as a member of the National Association of Realtors. Founded "Carnation Realty", mentored under the late Ralph Greer, Established "Mary Jane Carr and Associates" which included her "Girls" Pat Kearns-Davis and Sue Lusk-Gleich and was a highly respected and recognized Real Estate Brokerage throughout the Columbus area for many years. Mary Jane was wise and offered sage advice whether you asked for it or not. A fierce warrior who never forgot a name. Loved her trips to Las Vegas as well as her many dear friends. Stubborn in her beliefs and was best described as "Cool". Her stories will live on in all of us. Preceded in death by her loving husband Matthew Carr, The apple of her eye and proudest moments of her life, Lauren Musser - Granddaughter, Brother - Charles "Chuck" (Ginny) Foster, Sisters - Joy Ann (Charles) Ellis Gibson and Margaret (Carroll) Cleek, her doting parents and extended members of the Foster/Carr family. All of whom she loved deeply. Survived by her loyal companion Tim Musser - son, sister Edna "Dee Dee" (Ted) Grindley, brother Waid (Shelba) Foster, sister Miriam (Dale) Compliment and Cynthia Wallis, mother to her beloved Lauren. Visitation to be held at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home, 4341 N High St, Columbus, Ohio 43214, Thursday, November 21, 2019 4-7 pm. A service to be held Friday, November 22, 2019 at 10:30 am.  A graveside service to follow at Letart Falls, Ohio at 3pm. Shaw-Davis Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
