She cared for her son Christopher who became paralyzed at the age of 3 until he passed away in 1995. She then transferred to Salisbury, NC to continue her career with the Railroad. After retiring she moved to Columbus, OH in 2002.

She was preceded in death by her son Christopher David Bowen, her mother Minnie and father Millard, her brothers Donnie Bowen and Jackie Bowen, sisters-in-law Elenor “Ellie” Bowen and Opal Bowen, and brother-in-law Ralph Ward.

She is survived by her brothers Kenneth “Ricky” Bowen (WV) and Nicky Bowen (OH), sister Shirley Cline (KY), sons Ricky Bowen (Christi) and Randall “Randy” Bowen (Ruby), daughter Freda “Michelle” Bowen (Ryan), grandchildren Ryan Bowen (OH), Jacob Bowen (Makayla) NC, Summer Bowen OH, Christian and Jason Burgett OH, great grandchildren Ryan “RJ” and Lindsey Bowen OH, Parker and Peyton Bowen NC, along with many nieces, nephews, and dearly loved friends.

She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed to cook for her family and her favorite meal was Pinto beans and cornbread. She also liked to work puzzles and do crosswords. She could also spend hours on the phone talking with her loved ones. She was a wonderful person who would help anyone in need. She was so loving and fun to be around. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.
