Sandy Hoffman

October 12, 1948 ~ August 17, 2020 (age 71)

Sandy Hoffman, 71, of Columbus, OH passed away on Monday August 17, 2020 at home surrounded by family.  She was born October 12, 1948 in Mansfield, OH to the late Harvey Willard “Andy” Anderson and Eleanor Naydean (Hoover) Anderson.

She was retired from a lifetime of teaching in the public and private sectors in both Mansfield OH, and Columbus OH, and was an Administrator at Christ the King Christian School (Polaris) as well as at World Harvest Christian Academy. Over the years she and her husband were foster parents to over 30 children. The “Hoffman Hostel” never turned away a stray, including animals.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister (stillborn) Beth Ann Anderson, her husband of 43 years Larry E. Hoffman, and daughter Tracy Jo Hoffman. She is survived by her daughter Heather (Hoffman) Ordonez, and two granddaughters Elisa Dale and Anya Ordonez.

Sandy led a full and industrious life. At an early age she enjoyed horses and participated in barrel racing and showing both English and Western riding styles. In 1976 Sandy was named by the Mansfield Business and Professional Women’s Club for the Young Career Woman award for outstanding initiative and ability as a raising star in the female professional world.

Sandy’s career was constantly filled with education.  Not only of the students in the schools in which she administrated and taught, but in her own life as well.  She received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and moved on to achieving her Masters in Christian School Administration from Grace College in Indiana.  Her educational progress did not stop there as Sandy was working on her second Masters in Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development when she became ill.

Through the years Sandy touched many lives with her infectious laugh, bright smile, and her no nonsense, but compassionate view on learning, behavior, and following her faith in Jesus.  She meted out justice with love, and praise with humility, and to everyone she met she gave her full and undivided attention.  Often, she would provide not only students, but teachers as well, with the supplies they needed to perform the work set before them, and if they needed tuition money, it was often supplied. Sandy was dedicated to her students and faculty and set high standards to those whom she guided.

Sandy may not have known it here on earth, but her view of life and faith was the catalyst in which many people of God, ministers, pastors, worship leaders, and fellow Christians, grew to develop their own ministries with feet planted on a firm foundation.
